Russian companies consider investing in Maryazot

Turkmenistan President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov has approved proposals from several Russian companies to modernize Maryazot chemical plant (part of Turkmenhimiya state concern).

According to Deputy Prime Minister Shamuhammet Durdylyev, representatives of Russian companies visited Maryazot and had a look at the state of the plant. After that, they presumed how to bring the enterprise to its designed capacity. Maryazot’s designed capacity is 450 thousand tons of ammonium nitrate per year. According to the recommendations, the company should overhaul and reconstruct the plant. They also need to provide ammonia, nitric acid and ammonium nitrate workshops with the production equipment. The implementation of these works will relieve the necessity to import ammonium nitrate, will bring the production to its designed capacity and will let to produce new types of nitrogen fertilizers.

The performance of these works at the expense of investments of Russian companies was stipulated in the protocol of the 11th intergovernmental Turkmen — Russian commission meeting for economic cooperation held in Ashgabat city in May 2019.
