Export volumes of nitrogen fertilizers from Azerbaijan set a record

During four months of this year, Azerbaijan supplied more than 50 thousand tons of nitrogen fertilizers to the world market.

“During January-April 2020, Azerbaijan exported 50.4 thousand tons ($7.365 million) of nitrogen fertilizers,” reported State Customs Committee of Azerbaijan.

At the end of 2019, the export of nitrogen fertilizers (carbamide and ammonium sulfate) from Azerbaijan reached 114.3 thousand tons ($18.340 million).

Starting from January last year, a new carbamide plant launched by state petroleum company Socar has been operating in Azerbaijan. Its capacity is 660 thousand tons of carbamide per year. Azerbaijan’s domestic demand for carbamide is 100-150 thousand tons per year. The company exports since June 2019.
