General Director of Apatit (part of PhosAgro) Alexander Gilgenberg held a meeting on the implementation of the investment project for the development of the Volkhov branch of the enterprise.

“A new plant with a capacity of 1.1 million tons of sulfuric acid, 500 thousand tons of phosphoric acid and 800 thousand tons of ammophos per year will be created,” said Alexei Ikonnikov, Director of the Volkhov branch of Apatit.

At the moment, the company has built a warehouse of liquid ammonia with a capacity of 490 tons and modernized the existed and prepared new railways to this facility. The enterprise is also preparing power facilities for the commissioning works. Other facilities of the first stage of the project implementation are scheduled to start operating in October-November this year.

Europe is falling behind in this field. The concerns 30 years ago was reasonable. Now not so much. We need crops that can survive in a more extreme future climate. Handle droughts and hot weather better. Crops that are less tasty to pests like hogs and deere.
