Ukrainian chemical industry faces a depression

According to the Union of Chemists of Ukraine and trade unions’ statement, the chemical enterprises of Ukraine face mass dismissal of workers.

According to their information, about 8 thousand people have been dismissed from mineral fertilizer companies over the past four years. The Union of Chimists of Ukraine is convinced that the reason lies in the ineffective government policy, which leads to the stagnation of the domestic fertilizer industry and the displacement of local producers from the national fertilizer market.

Chemists complained that most of the fertilizers imported to Ukraine were produced in Russia.

“Russian chemical corporations quickly found a way to bypass the embargo on the import of mineral fertilizers to Ukraine. They work in cooperation with other countries, which are not limited in the import to the Ukrainian market,” said Oleksiy Golubov, the President of Union of Chemists of Ukraine.
