Yara continues cooperation with Belaruskali despite US sanctions

Norwegian producer of mineral fertilizers Yara International (hereinafter Yara) prefers to remain the buyer of the potassium chloride produced by Belaruskali, despite the political processes taking place in Belarus and the sanctions imposed against Belaruskali.

“This is the most difficult situation we have had a chance to work in. It has now been a year since the situation escalated but for many years we have understood how strict this country is for business,” said Svein Tore Holsether, President and CEO of Yara.

According to his statement, an employee of Yara has been working in the office of Belaruskali since April and reports everything that is happening there.

Belaruskali produces over 7 million tons of potassium chloride per year, exporting it to various countries.
