Solynta and Incotec will develop cooperation

Dutch hybrid potato grower Solynta and seed improvement company Incotec have signed a cooperation agreement to jointly develop potato seed breeding and genetics.
The agreement will allow Solynta and Incotec to enhance cooperation and supply seeds of promising potato hybrids to the global market. Potato is the fourth largest agricultural crop in the world.
Seeds of hybrid potatoes can be in demand in the countries of Africa, Asia and Latin America. Since 2013, Solynta and Incotec have implemented several research projects in the field of potato hybridization.

Europe is falling behind in this field. The concerns 30 years ago was reasonable. Now not so much. We need crops that can survive in a more extreme future climate. Handle droughts and hot weather better. Crops that are less tasty to pests like hogs and deere.
