Mahadhan Agritech Limited (MAL), previously known as Smartchem Technologies Limited and a subsidiary of Deepak Fertilisers and Petrochemicals Corporation Limited (DFPCL), has joined forces with the Israel-based Haifa Group, a leader in specialty plant nutrients. This strategic alliance is set to promote high-performance specialty fertilizers aimed at improving the quality and productivity of crops in India and other countries.

According to Sailesh C. Mehta, Chairman and Managing Director of DFPCL, this partnership marks a significant milestone in MAL’s mission to transform agriculture in India by offering tailored crop nutrient solutions. “This collaboration aligns with our commitment to provide balanced and precise crop nutrition. With over 6 million hectares of agricultural land already equipped with drip irrigation systems across various states, there’s a substantial platform to introduce these advanced water-soluble fertilizers,” Mehta said.

The collaboration between MAL and Haifa will support sustainable agricultural practices that address critical challenges such as water scarcity while improving nutrient uptake and efficiency in plants. These efforts are expected to contribute to the government’s goal of doubling farm incomes and will also aid in reducing groundwater and air pollution, thereby empowering farmers and fostering positive change in the agricultural sector.

Motti Levin, CEO of Haifa Group, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership. “By combining our global expertise with MAL’s strong local presence, we aim to meet the evolving needs of Indian agriculture and farmer preferences. This partnership will not only benefit Indian farmers but also extend Mahadhan Agritech’s practices and innovations to other developing regions to enhance agricultural yields and product quality,” Levin remarked.

Mahadhan Agritech Limited, headquartered in India, is a significant player in industrial chemicals and fertilizers, supporting vital economic sectors such as infrastructure, mining, and agriculture. On the other hand, Haifa Group is a renowned multinational corporation specializing in the development and supply of specialty fertilizers, with a strong international presence and advanced production facilities in Israel, France, and Canada. This partnership is poised to leverage extensive expertise and innovative solutions to advance agricultural productivity and sustainability globally.

Europe is falling behind in this field. The concerns 30 years ago was reasonable. Now not so much. We need crops that can survive in a more extreme future climate. Handle droughts and hot weather better. Crops that are less tasty to pests like hogs and deere.
