Daesung SmartHive has introduced a new plasma-based technology for pest control, marking a significant step towards eco-friendly agriculture. This technology, aimed at protecting both bees and crops, offers a promising alternative to harmful chemical pesticides. Having completed effective local testing with farmers, Daesung SmartHive is now moving towards commercializing this technology.

The company’s innovative system targets pests like varroa mites, which are a major factor in the global decline of bee populations. Unlike traditional chemical methods, plasma technology eliminates pests without damaging bees, crops, or the ecosystem. This approach not only preserves the health of the bees but also prevents the environmental contamination typically associated with pesticides.

Daesung SmartHive Plasma Technology for Eco-Friendly Pest Control

Historically, the reliance on chemical pesticides has led to increased resistance among pests, necessitating the use of ever more potent chemicals. This cycle not only harms the environment but also increases agricultural costs and poses health risks. Daesung SmartHive’s technology disrupts this cycle by providing a solution that requires no harmful residues, thereby reducing the need for post-application cleaning and lowering the risk of soil and water pollution.

Furthermore, Daesung SmartHive is expanding its technological portfolio with the development of a plasma nitrogen fertilizer generation system. This system, along with the pest control technology, will be showcased at the World Horticulture Center in the Netherlands later this year.

The company is preparing for a series of presentations at major international agricultural expos, including J AGRI Tokyo, UzAgroExpo in Uzbekistan, and CES 2025 in Las Vegas. These exhibitions will serve as platforms for Daesung SmartHive to form global partnerships and expand its market presence, reinforcing its commitment to sustainable agriculture.

Europe is falling behind in this field. The concerns 30 years ago was reasonable. Now not so much. We need crops that can survive in a more extreme future climate. Handle droughts and hot weather better. Crops that are less tasty to pests like hogs and deere.
