Sustainable Agro Solutions (SAS), a Spanish leader in biostimulants and plant nutrition, has acquired Pevesa Agroscience, the agricultural division of Pevesa Biotech, from Kerry Group. This acquisition is set to integrate Pevesa Agroscience’s operating assets, intellectual property, and specialized plant-based technologies into SAS’s portfolio, bolstering its position as a global player in agricultural biosolutions.

The transaction marks a strategic move for SAS, allowing vertical integration of amino acids derived from natural plant sources—a key raw material for biostimulants. This development is expected to enhance the efficiency, quality, and differentiation of SAS’s product offerings, further solidifying its competitive edge in the agricultural sector.

Stirling Square Capital Partners, a private equity firm that acquired a majority stake in SAS in 2021, continues to support SAS’s growth ambitions. The firm has played a critical role in SAS’s transformation into a global leader, including its 2023 acquisition of Biovert and ongoing expansion of its facilities in Lleida, Spain.

Europe is falling behind in this field. The concerns 30 years ago was reasonable. Now not so much. We need crops that can survive in a more extreme future climate. Handle droughts and hot weather better. Crops that are less tasty to pests like hogs and deere.
