Russia starts fertilizer labeling experiment in October 2025

The Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade has scheduled the start of an experimental labeling program for select mineral fertilizers. According to a draft government resolution published on the official portal of draft regulatory legal acts, the trial will run from October 1, 2025, through August 31, 2026.
The initiative aims to test the labeling of specific fertilizer types in consumer packaging using unique identification codes. The list includes potassium phosphates, potassium nitrates, other nitrate-based fertilizers, and formulations containing two or three essential plant nutrients.
The experiment is intended to assess the feasibility and impact of introducing digital tracking tools for fertilizers, in line with broader government efforts to improve transparency and control in the distribution of agrochemical products.
The Ministry has not yet specified how the experiment’s results will influence future regulation.
