Casale’s ammonia synthesis technology exceeds performance targets in Chinese project

Swiss engineering company Casale has reported stronger-than-expected performance results from its ammonia synthesis loop technology deployed at a new facility in China. The plant, owned by Jiangsu Debang Xinghua Chemical Technology, has operated since June 2024 and is now considered a benchmark in the domestic ammonia industry.
The coal-based facility, with a nominal capacity of 1,200 metric tons per day, is equipped with Casale’s proprietary N-LOOP ammonia synthesis system. According to the company, the plant reached 110% of its nameplate capacity shortly after commissioning and has since operated stably at 130% load for extended periods without encountering any bottlenecks in the synthesis loop.
Casale stated that the outcome demonstrates the efficiency and reliability of its technology, reinforcing the company’s strategic position in the ammonia market. “We are very proud of the trust placed in us by Jiangsu Debang and pleased to see our technology delivering strong results,” said Federico Zardi, CEO of Casale.
The plant is located in China’s Jiangsu Province and is one of the country’s newest large-scale coal-to-ammonia facilities.
