Sustainable Agro Solutions expands in Latin America with Aqua do Brasil acquisition

Sustainable Agro Solutions (SAS) has acquired Aqua do Brasil, a Brazilian producer of resistance inducers, biostimulants, and specialty fertilizers, marking a significant step in the group’s expansion in Latin America.
Founded in 2010, Aqua do Brasil built its business on the idea that agriculture could be both sustainable and innovation-driven. Over the past 15 years, the company has gained the trust of growers and partners across Brazil and Latin America, positioning itself as a regional player in biosolutions. Its founder and chief executive, Luciano Gasparini, will remain actively involved, continuing to lead operations in Brazil after the integration.
“This acquisition marks a historic milestone for SAS, as we expand into one of the world’s most dynamic agricultural markets,” said Eduard Vallverdú, chief executive of SAS. “Aqua do Brasil brings strong expertise, solid growth potential, and a well-established customer base. Together, we will scale production, expand our reach across Brazil and Latin America, and reinforce our commitment to excellence.”
Gasparini said the deal opens a new chapter for the company. “Aqua was born in 2010 with the dream of proving that it was possible to farm in a more sustainable and innovative way. Joining SAS marks the beginning of a new phase of accelerated growth and greater impact in the biosolutions sector,” he said.
The acquisition follows a string of deals aimed at consolidating SAS’s global footprint. Backed by Stirling Square Capital Partners since 2021, SAS bought Spain’s Biovert in 2023 and Pevesa Agroscience in 2024, extending its reach in specialty inputs and plant nutrition. The Aqua deal, the company said, represents another decisive step in that strategy.
The move comes as major agricultural input suppliers, including Corteva, UPL, and FMC, expand their presence in Brazil’s fast-growing biostimulant and biosolutions market. Demand for biological inputs has risen sharply in the region, driven by environmental regulations and grower interest in sustainable practices. SAS’s acquisition of Aqua do Brasil positions it to compete more directly with these larger rivals by combining local expertise with international scale.
Brazil’s agricultural sector, dominated by large-scale production of soybeans, corn, and sugarcane, has become a magnet for global suppliers of bio-based solutions. Establishing a production platform in Brazil provides SAS with closer access to growers, improved logistics, and the ability to navigate local regulations more efficiently.
SAS described the move as an opportunity to consolidate its leadership in agricultural biosolutions while upholding sustainability as a central part of its business model.
