Yaben Chemical and Suyan form strategic partnership in pesticide R&D

Shanghai-based Yaben Chemical and Jiangsu Pesticide Research Institute (Suyan) have signed a strategic cooperation agreement to expand joint research and development in crop protection, underscoring China’s efforts to strengthen its domestic agrochemical industry.
The agreement,
finalized at Yaben’s headquarters, will combine Yaben’s expertise as a contract development and manufacturing organization in chemical synthesis and process scale-up with Suyan’s capabilities in pesticide molecule design and early-stage innovation. Yaben will provide process development, quality control, and technical manufacturing support for Suyan’s pesticide projects.
China is one of the world’s largest producers and consumers of pesticides, and local companies are under pressure to reduce reliance on foreign technology while advancing higher-value, innovation-driven products. Suyan’s GLP-certified laboratory and track record in pesticide research, paired with Yaben’s production strengths, are expected to accelerate the commercialization of new active ingredients and formulations.
The collaboration comes as global agrochemical markets face shifting supply chains, with multinational firms increasingly looking to China for both innovation and manufacturing capacity. By formalizing closer cooperation, Yaben and Suyan aim to position themselves as stronger domestic competitors while also potentially expanding their role in international markets.
