Synagro acquires Nutri-Blend assets in Virginia

Synagro Technologies, North America’s largest provider of sustainable biosolids and organics solutions, has acquired the assets of Nutri-Blend, a Virginia-based biosolids services provider with more than 30 years in the market. The deal extends Synagro’s service coverage across Virginia and the Washington, D.C., area, while reinforcing relationships with local municipalities and agricultural clients.

“This acquisition continues broadening our client base in the region and expanding our biosolids-management services,” said Ben Gilreath, Synagro vice president of corporate development and mergers and acquisitions. “We look forward to welcoming the Nutri-Blend employees to the Synagro family.”

Lawrence Matthews, Nutri-Blend president, emphasized the strategic fit of the transaction. “I chose to partner with Synagro because of their leadership and performance, as well as their commitment to continue with our staff, client base and local farmers,” he said.

The acquisition is expected to support Synagro’s environmental initiatives and service offerings, leveraging Nutri-Blend’s established local relationships and reputation for responsible environmental practices. Curt Kleinsorg, vice president of regional operations at Synagro, noted that the deal reinforces the company’s mission to promote the beneficial use of biosolids and support the agricultural heritage of Virginia.

Synagro provides environmental services focused on water quality, organics recycling, and circularity solutions, serving municipal and commercial clients across North America. The company positions the acquisition as a step toward expanding its regional operations while maintaining high service standards for existing Nutri-Blend customers.
