Uralchem and three Indian state-owned fertilizer companies will create joint venture to build 1.8 million ton urea plant in Russia

Uralchem has signed a memorandum of understanding with India’s Rashtriya Chemicals and Fertilizers Limited, National Fertilizers Limited and Indian Potash Limited to establish a joint venture for urea production in Russia. The agreement was concluded in New Delhi on 5 December.
The partners intend to build a plant with an annual output of 1.8–2 million tons. According to the companies, the project will be based on ammonia supplied by Togliattiazot, while the Indian participants will provide financing until the facility reaches commercial operation.
Technical, commercial and corporate parameters of the venture are still under review. Work is also under way on the proposed management structure.
Uralchem chief executive Dmitry Konyaev said India remains one of the company’s most important markets and described the memorandum as a step toward expanding long-term cooperation.
