Yara UK launches digital platform to centralize crop nutrition tools

Yara UK & Ireland has launched a digital platform that consolidates crop nutrition tools, agronomic data and application technology into a single system for farmers and advisers. The platform, called YaraPlus, combines existing Yara digital services with new features to support nitrogen management and field-level decision-making throughout the growing season.
Developed with input from farmers, agronomists and machinery manufacturer John Deere, the platform has been trialled in Germany over the past 18 months. YaraPlus is accessible via desktop and mobile devices, allowing users to generate fertilizer recommendations, create application maps and manage crop nutrition data from the field or office.
Central to the system is a variable-rate application tool that uses satellite imagery and Yara’s N-Sensor algorithms to assess crop biomass and greenness, generating nitrogen recommendations for different zones within a field. Yara says this approach offers greater precision than standard NDVI-based mapping, though performance will depend on local conditions. The platform also integrates with Yara’s handheld N-Tester chlorophyll meter, enabling variety-specific nitrogen recommendations, and provides photo-based crop assessment and tank-mix compatibility checks.
Integration with John Deere’s digital platform allows users to import field boundaries, create variable-rate maps, and export them as work plans for on-farm execution, reducing manual data transfer. The system also links directly to Yara’s order portal to speed up product procurement.
YaraPlus doubles as a communication channel. The company plans to deliver field-specific agronomic guidance, product information and technical content tailored to users’ locations and crops.
The launch reflects a broader trend in the fertilizer sector toward digital advisory services alongside physical inputs. As growers face tighter margins and more complex nutrient management requirements, suppliers are positioning digital tools as a way to improve fertilizer efficiency and document decision-making.
