Syngenta introduces robotic dog to support agronomists in the field

Syngenta has unveiled a robotic dog designed to assist agronomists with field monitoring and crop assessment, marking a further step in the company’s push toward digital and precision agriculture. The device, referred to internally as “Robodog,” is intended to support on-the-ground agronomic work by collecting field data and improving the speed and accuracy of crop diagnostics.

The robotic platform is equipped to navigate uneven terrain and gather real-time information that can help agronomists evaluate plant health, soil conditions, and potential pest or disease pressures. By automating certain scouting activities, the company aims to reduce labor intensity while enhancing the quality of field insights available to growers.
The launch reflects Syngenta’s broader strategy to integrate advanced technologies into farming operations, aligning with its focus on innovation and sustainability. As agricultural producers face mounting pressure to increase yields while managing input costs and environmental constraints, digital tools such as robotic field assistants are increasingly positioned as part of the industry’s long-term productivity strategy.
