Tajikistan will increase fertilizer imports

According to the forecast of Tajikistan’s main macroeconomic indicators for 2021-2023, the Republic plans to increase imports of mineral fertilizers. For example, this year, Tajikistan will import about 170.5 thousand tons of mineral fertilizers which are 2.9% more than in 2020.

The volume of imports of these products will annually grow due to the lack of own production of mineral fertilizers — TajikAzot is the only plant in the country, however, it is not operating yet.

In early 2021, Chairman of the Committee on Investments and State Property Management of Tajikistan, Sadi Kodirzoda announced that TajikAzot was sold. Its owner will have to pay off the company’s debts within a year.
