Serbian farmers started mass protests due to high fertilizer prices

Serbian farmers started mass strikes due to rising prices for mineral fertilizers, joining the actions of the European protestants: over 70 tractors blocked roads in the center of Novi Sad. They didn’t leave even at night.

Farmers are heading to Belgrade to meet with Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabić. They say they are in a stalemate as their costs have risen by 20% and threaten further protests if their demands are denied.

“The difficult situation with prices for mineral fertilizers in Serbian agriculture is due to the effect of sanctions against Russia imposed by the authorities of the European Union. Serbia is a candidate for EU membership,” commented the information and analytical service of Fertilizer Daily.
