Agricultural companies from Russia and Iran strengthened cooperation
As part of a business mission to Iran, organized by Agroexport and the Russian Ministry of Agriculture on September 25-27, Russian agricultural companies discussed the prospects for increasing the volume of supplies of raw materials and finished products to the Iranian market. Thus, according to the chairman of the Federation of Iranian Food Organizations, Mohammad Reza Mortazavi, Iran annually purchases from 16 to 20 million tons of agricultural goods on foreign markets.
In the coming months, Iranian companies will actively seek suppliers to enter into contracts. Russia, in turn, is ready to significantly increase the supply of meals and cakes – sunflower, soybean and rapeseed. As the moderator of the round table “Commodity Products: The Potential of Exports from Russia”, independent oil and fats industry expert Ilya Ilyushin, noted, Iran is currently already the 3rd buyer of Russian sunflower oil. In addition, promising products include rapeseed and soybean oils. In addition, Russia is the main supplier of wheat on the Iran market.
Iranian processors of grain and oil and fat products also offered suppliers to ensure a long-term crisis, which would ensure the implementation of modern investment projects, logistics across the Caspian Sea, as well as the resolution of financial issues. Thus, the Golshakhd grain processing plant company recently began importing corn from Russia.
