Priva and Blue Radix partner to target greenhouse industry challenges with innovative AI solutions

The growing global demand for precise and efficient agricultural practices has put a spotlight on AI-driven and autonomous growing technologies. To address the dual challenges of increasing food production and managing the skilled grower shortage, Priva, a Netherlands-based leader in climate and process control for horticulture, and Blue Radix, a specialist in autonomous growing technologies, have signed a multi-year strategic cooperation agreement. This partnership builds on their collaboration since 2021, aiming to revolutionize greenhouse cultivation by combining expertise in climate management and artificial intelligence.
Priva, which operates in over 100 countries and is known for its integrated control systems that optimize climate, water, and energy use in greenhouses, brings its advanced process computers and sensor technologies to the table. According to Hans Peters, Priva’s CEO, these systems are designed to help growers overcome modern challenges such as fluctuating market prices, rising energy costs, and stricter regulations. Peters highlighted the importance of innovation, stating that achieving optimal results in such a complex environment requires moving beyond current capabilities.
Blue Radix, with its autonomous Crop Controller technology already deployed in 100 greenhouses across 17 countries, contributes advanced algorithms for automating daily greenhouse operations, such as climate and irrigation control. CEO Ronald Hoek explained that these AI-driven tools reduce manual intervention while enhancing crop quality and yield. By integrating with Priva’s systems, Crop Controller provides a tailored approach for growers, allowing them to scale operations without sacrificing efficiency.
Dirk Prins, Lead Business Development Manager at Priva, emphasized the operational benefits of this collaboration. He noted that the integration of AI into Priva’s systems enables growers to manage larger areas effectively while improving financial performance through reduced energy and water use. Hoek added that Blue Radix’s technology continuously processes vast amounts of data, helping growers make precise adjustments without the stress of manually tuning complex systems.
Both companies prioritize an open ecosystem approach, ensuring that growers have the flexibility to choose solutions that best meet their needs. While maintaining partnerships with other industry players, Priva and Blue Radix aim to showcase the advantages of their combined expertise through their joint efforts. This strategy reflects their shared commitment to addressing the global skilled grower shortage and advancing sustainable agricultural practices.
