In a new development aimed at promoting gender equality and enhancing the role of women in Pakistan’s agriculture, Fatima Fertilizer has entered into a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Akhuwat Foundation. This partnership, formalized during a special ceremony in Lahore on February 12, focuses on empowering rural women through the Sarsabz Tabeer initiative.

The initiative is designed to provide rural women with the necessary resources, training, and financial support to excel in agricultural entrepreneurship. Asad Murad, Chief Operating Officer of Fatima Fertilizer, and Dr. Kamran Shams, CEO of Akhuwat Foundation, signed the agreement, underscoring their organizations’ commitment to fostering inclusive growth in farming communities.

Asad Murad highlighted the collaboration’s strategic intent, stating, “Empowering women is essential for the growth and sustainability of our communities. Through this partnership with the Akhuwat Foundation, we aim to create opportunities for rural women to reach their full potential.”

Echoing this sentiment, Dr. Kamran Shams remarked on the initiative’s potential impacts: “This MoU marks a significant step forward in our mission to support women in agriculture. Together with Fatima Fertilizer, we look forward to implementing programs that will bring tangible benefits to women and their families.”

Rabel Sadozai, Director of Marketing and Sales at Fatima Fertilizer, further elaborated on the holistic approach of the Sarsabz Tabeer program, “We are building a supportive ecosystem where women can access resources, share knowledge, and grow their agricultural enterprises. This initiative will strengthen both family livelihoods and local economies.”

The collaboration between Fatima Fertilizer and Akhuwat Foundation aims to transform Pakistan’s agricultural landscape by enabling women to assume leadership roles in farming and agribusiness, reinforcing the commitment to sustainable and inclusive development aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Europe is falling behind in this field. The concerns 30 years ago was reasonable. Now not so much. We need crops that can survive in a more extreme future climate. Handle droughts and hot weather better. Crops that are less tasty to pests like hogs and deere.
