ICL introduces Bioz Tônus in Brazil as next-gen crop nutrition solution

The Israeli ICL has launched Bioz Tônus in Brazil, presenting it as a technological evolution of its earlier solution, Tônus. The product is positioned as part of the company’s Active Nodulation Program, which aims to support nitrogen fixation and sustain plant activity throughout the crop cycle.
According to ICL, Bioz Tônus enhances nitrogen metabolism, strengthens biological nitrogen fixation (BNF), and helps crops remain physiologically active under stress conditions. It was developed with Brazilian technology and incorporates new elements compared with the earlier formulation.

A key innovation is the addition of selenium, which the company says helps regulate oxidative stress and plays a role in the signaling process that attracts nitrogen-fixing bacteria. ICL highlighted this feature as contributing to improved resilience against climatic challenges and higher productivity.
The formulation also incorporates ICL’s pending patent DuoSpiral technology. Based on natural compounds, DuoSpiral binds micronutrients so they are released only after the plant absorbs them, avoiding premature reactions in spray solutions or on leaf surfaces. The company said this increases nutrient efficiency while supporting plant metabolic functions.
“With DuoSpiral technology, the micronutrients are more stable and easily absorbed. These compounds improve nutrition and transport, while also being utilized in metabolic pathways that promote crop development,” said Bernardo Vieira, Biological Products Manager at ICL.
Bioz Tônus will gradually replace the earlier version of Tônus. It is recommended for application in soybean and bean crops at the V3 to V4 growth stages, which are considered critical for nodule formation. While primarily targeted at soybeans, the product has also demonstrated effectiveness in beans, corn, wheat, and rice.
The product will be marketed under the ICL brand and available to Brazilian growers beginning with the 2025/26 season.
