Grodno Azot temporarily halts ammonia unit for maintenance

Grodno Azot has temporarily suspended ammonia production at one of its units for maintenance work, the company said.
At 4:30 a.m. on January 28, ammonia production was halted at the Ammonia-3 plant to replace a malfunctioning control and instrumentation device. The company said the shutdown was carried out as a precautionary measure and in line with technical requirements.
The Ammonia-3 facility remains operational, while the Ammonia-4 plant was also taken offline for repairs necessitated by damage caused by severe frost. The company said the timing of the work was chosen to take advantage of favorable weather conditions.
As part of the maintenance process, short-term flaring of combustible substances will take place in accordance with established technological regulations. Grodno Azot emphasized that the procedure poses no risk to public safety or the environment.
The company said there is no cause for concern among city residents and that all work is being carried out in accordance with standard safety and environmental controls.
