Fertilizer sales in Russia approaching 4 million tons
According to the report of the Russian Fertilizer Producers Association (RFPA), the volume of purchased mineral fertilizers in Russian agriculture at the beginning of August increased by 26% to 3.72 million tons. Thus, the demand for mineral fertilizers for the whole period of 2021 is already supplied by 83%.
A significant volume of mineral fertilizers this year was supplied to Russian farmers in advance during the off-season, which helped to carry out spring field works on time and with high quality. Harvesting has already begun in most regions of the country. According to the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia, almost 45 million tons of grain crops were obtained at the end of July, which is higher than last year’s figures for the same period. The supplies of mineral fertilizers to the regions are ongoing, and there is no shortage of them.
Considering the level of world food prices in the world and Russia, the availability of a basket of mineral fertilizers for farmers is high. This is the result of the fulfillment of the decree of Russian President Vladimir Putin dated September 24, 2015, on the introduction of a mechanism to restrain the growth of mineral fertilizer prices amid a changing macroeconomic situation. Within this decree, the Russian Government developed mechanisms to ensure the availability of mineral fertilizers for agricultural producers, which are effectively used by producers of mineral fertilizers.
