Dangerous virus was found in Europe
Tomato brown rugose fruit virus (ToBRFV) was recently found in Austria. Experts have identified it in a greenhouse complex for growing tomatoes located in the municipality of Münchendorf.
The complex is currently destroying all plants and nutrient mediums in the contaminated greenhouse and conducting thoroughly cleaning and disinfection of its premises, equipment, and containers.
There is also a suspicion of ToBRFV on a farm located in the Swiss Canton of Thurgau. The Swiss Federal Office for Agriculture and the region’s authorities have taken the necessary measures to prevent the virus outbreak.
To prevent the spread of this virus Russia banned the import of tomatoes from Uzbekistan since the end of July 2021.
