Russian Government will identify crucial food security crops

The Ministry of Agriculture of Russia has prepared a draft decree approving the list of agricultural plants crucial for ensuring the country’s food security.
The list includes 46 crops. Among them are grapes, buckwheat, cabbage, potatoes, hemp, corn, flax, onions, poppy seeds, carrots, chickpeas, oats, cucumbers, sweet peppers, sunflowers, several types of wheat, and beets.
Public discussion of the initiative will last until August 3. If adopted, the decree will come into force on September 1, 2023.
