Ostara, a company specializing in sustainable and efficient crop nutrition solutions, has named Tom Snipes as its new Chief Executive Officer. With a proven track record in agricultural innovation and business development, Snipes is set to lead Ostara’s continued growth and expansion of its Crystal Green technology platform, which offers the industry’s first and only phosphate fertilizers designed to release nutrients in response to crop demand. By reducing phosphate tie-up, runoff, and leaching, Crystal Green fertilizers enhance soil health and improve food security, supporting both the agriculture and turf sectors across North America and Europe.

Snipes joins Ostara following his tenure as CEO of Custom Agronomics and previously led Plant Response, a global plant biotechnology firm focused on nutrient use efficiency and plant health. Under his leadership, the company experienced rapid growth through strategic acquisitions and commercialization efforts, culminating in its acquisition by The Mosaic Company in 2022. Reflecting on his new role, Snipes emphasized the significant market opportunities for Ostara, citing the company’s strong foundation of technologies, manufacturing capabilities, and customer relationships backed by proven agronomic results globally. He expressed his commitment to leveraging these strengths to drive the business into its next phase of growth.

Prior to his work at Plant Response, Snipes held leadership positions at Pinnacle Agricultural Holdings and Koch Industries, where he was responsible for business development, growth strategies, and acquisitions. He holds a degree from the University of South Carolina and has completed executive education programs at the University of Michigan and Texas A&M University.

Monty Bayer, Executive Chairman of Ostara’s Board of Directors, highlighted Snipes’ valuable combination of agricultural experience and business expertise, noting that his stating that his history of driving innovation and expansion positions him well to lead the company’s growth.

Its innovative fertilizer portfolio and nutrient recovery technologies help minimize phosphorus and nitrogen runoff, supporting environmental protection while maximizing agricultural productivity. The company’s Crystal Green fertilizers play a key role in addressing nutrient efficiency challenges while maintaining a commitment to sustainability.
