Bayer appoints Dr. Mike Graham as new head of R&D for its Crop Science division

Bayer has announced the appointment of Dr. Mike Graham as the new Head of Research & Development (R&D) for its Crop Science division, effective April 15, 2025. Dr. Graham, who currently leads the company’s Plant Breeding organization, will also join the Crop Science Leadership Team. He succeeded Dr. Robert Reiter, who retired after 27 years with Bayer and 34 years in the industry.
Dr. Reiter, who joined Bayer in 1998, has been instrumental in pioneering genotypic selection and developing a leading genotyping platform within the industry. During his tenure, he held multiple senior roles and contributed significantly to advancing Bayer’s seed and trait capabilities. Since becoming Head of R&D in 2018, Dr. Reiter led the development of major products, including the new herbicide Icafolin and the Preceon Smart Corn System, which are expected to significantly impact corn production.
Dr. Reiter will assist Dr. Graham during the transition period to ensure a seamless handover of responsibilities. Dr. Graham, who joined Bayer in 1996, has progressed through various roles, significantly impacting the company’s breeding and technical strategies, and leading its digital transformation efforts in plant breeding.
