Aginnovation strengthens European seed-enhancement portfolio with Centor Europe acquisition

Aginnovation announced the acquisition of a majority stake in Centor Europe, a Netherlands-based specialist in seed-coating binders, colorants, and related services. The transaction expands Aginnovation’s presence across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) and enhances its ability to deliver integrated seed treatment solutions amid growing industry demand for improved seed performance and sustainability.
The global seed treatment market has seen steady growth driven by increased adoption of advanced coatings that enhance seed quality, protect against pests and diseases, and support higher crop yields. With regulatory pressures and sustainability commitments intensifying, seed companies are seeking innovative, localized solutions to optimize planting efficiency and reduce environmental impact.
Peter Marks, Chief Executive Officer of Aginnovation, underscored the strategic importance of the acquisition. “Centor Europe’s reputation for technical precision and product innovation aligns perfectly with Aginnovation’s mission,” he said. “Together, we will accelerate the path from concept to commercial launch, providing our European customers with reliable local supply and robust technical support.”
Eric Juckers, founder of Centor Europe, will remain in an advisory role during the transition. René Rijs, formerly CEO of Bakker Brothers, has been appointed Managing Director of Centor Europe and will oversee daily operations. Rijs noted, “Our teams share a passion for practical, science-based innovation and customer service excellence, which makes this an exciting next step.”
Founded in 2012 and based in Lodi, California, Aginnovation specializes in seed treatment solutions that combine materials formulation with plant science expertise. The company serves diverse agricultural markets across North America, delivering products designed to improve seed quality and performance.
Centor Europe, part of the global Centor Group, operates from Andijk, the Netherlands. It is known for its premium Seedworx range of seed coatings, binders, and powders engineered to reduce dust, improve flow through treatment facilities, and enhance plantability. The company also supplies laboratory seed-treatment and analytical equipment alongside technical services to seed companies throughout Europe.
The acquisition positions Aginnovation to strengthen its competitive position in the evolving seed treatment market and better support seed companies’ innovation and sustainability objectives in the EMEA region.
