Gowan and SePRO have formed a strategic alliance that gives Gowan responsibility for US marketing, sales, and product development of SePRO’s Brake and Bio-Tam crop protection products.

Under the agreement, Gowan will manage Brake Herbicide, Brake On! Herbicide, and Bio-Tam Biofungicide—products used primarily in high-value crop systems such as vegetables, cotton, and tree nuts. Brake and Brake On! are pre-emergence herbicides that provide broad-spectrum control of grass and broadleaf weeds, with Brake On! offering extended residual activity and selective crop safety. Bio-Tam is a biological fungicide targeting soil-borne diseases, supporting sustainable production and resistance management.

The companies said Gowan may evaluate opportunities to expand distribution of these products beyond the US market.

SePRO Chief Executive Tyler Koschnick said the alliance joins “two science-driven organizations” with complementary strengths. The agreement licenses Brake and Brake On! to Gowan and returns Bio-Tam to Gowan’s portfolio. “This alliance allows us to focus our efforts, accelerate growth, and deliver greater value for customers,” Koschnick said.

Gowan USA President Steve Petersen said the partnership will help expand access to proven tools for U.S. growers. “Brake, Brake On!, and Bio-Tam are strong additions to our portfolio, and we look forward to leveraging our commercial presence to ensure they reach more growers,” he said.

As part of the transition, SePRO team members Sean Lynch, RJ Byrne, Bret Mize, and Leslie Rogers will join Gowan to support product continuity and customer service.

Founded in Yuma, Arizona, Gowan is a family-owned company specializing in crop protection and seeds, while SePRO, based in Carmel, Indiana, focuses on aquatic and specialty crop management products. The alliance is expected to reinforce both companies’ market presence and accelerate innovation in US specialty agriculture.

Europe is falling behind in this field. The concerns 30 years ago was reasonable. Now not so much. We need crops that can survive in a more extreme future climate. Handle droughts and hot weather better. Crops that are less tasty to pests like hogs and deere.
