Rovensa Next expands European biocontrol portfolio with two new biosolutions

      Share

Rovensa Next has broadened its biosolutions lineup in Europe with the introduction of two products—Orocide Plus and Tulga Spinex—aimed at strengthening its position in the European biocontrol market. The launches come as European growers face tighter regulatory inspection on synthetic crop protection tools and increasing pressure to transition toward lower-impact inputs.

The company, headquartered in Madrid and active in more than 90 countries, said the additions align with its global “Biosolutionize Agriculture” campaign, which promotes biological alternatives that can reduce synthetic use, support resistance management and fit within integrated pest-management programs.

Orocide Plus becomes the first orange-oil-based solution authorized in France for combating Phytophthora infestans, the pathogen behind late blight in potatoes. Rovensa Next said the product, marketed in Germany under the Prev-Gold brand, offers preventive and curative action through direct contact with fungal mycelia and spores. The formulation uses the company’s Orowet technology to improve coverage and adhesion on leaf surfaces, a feature positioned as a differentiator as some conventional fungicides approach patent expiry or undergo regulatory review. The French registration includes aphid control in cereals, a pre-harvest interval of three days for potatoes and a 24-hour re-entry period.

Tulga Spinex, a spinosad-based bioinsecticide produced through microbial fermentation, recently entered the Spanish market and is set to launch in Greece as Tulga 480SC. Certified for organic production, the product targets thrips, caterpillars and other key pests in fruit and vegetable crops, while not significantly affecting beneficial insects, including pollinators. Field trials cited by the company reported control levels above 90% against insects such as Tuta absoluta, Lobesia botrana and Frankliniella occidentalis under optimal conditions.

“These product expansions demonstrate Rovensa Next’s continuous investment in the EMEA region and our commitment to developing high-performance, nature-based solutions which are more accessible to growers,” said Fabio Dias, head of the company’s EMEA division.

Rovensa Next, formed through the integration of 12 biosolutions companies, reported revenues exceeding €500 million and operates an R&D network of 38 laboratories, 13 production plants and more than 170 research partnerships. The company said its broader portfolio—covering biocontrol, biostimulants, biofertilizers, bionutrition and adjuvants—is designed to help growers adapt to changing regulatory frameworks and rising expectations around environmental sustainability.

Europe is falling behind in this field. The concerns 30 years ago was reasonable. Now not so much. We need crops that can survive in a more extreme future climate. Handle droughts and hot weather better. Crops that are less tasty to pests like hogs and deere.
