AI is changing how decisions are made in Brazil’s farming industry

Brazil’s farming sector is changing as artificial intelligence helps farmers rely less on intuition and more on precise data. This shift is helping them deal with smaller profit margins and unpredictable weather. Experts say agribusiness is moving away from just focusing on production and becoming a system where many decisions are made before planting even starts.
New technologies that combine soil data, climate models, genetics, and management practices are helping farmers go beyond using just regional averages. For example, platforms like Agscore look at over 100 factors for each plot to give specific advice on which crops to plant and when. Early results from the 2025/26 harvest show clear benefits, such as yields rising by about 2.3 bags per hectare and less uncertainty in decision-making.
This change is also giving agronomists a new role, making them more like strategic decision-makers instead of just working in the field. Even though AI tools offer predictions and risk analysis, people in the industry say that human judgment is still key for understanding the data and making final decisions. As Brazil grows as a global leader in agriculture, using artificial intelligence and working together on new agtech is expected to help keep productivity and competitiveness strong.
