The German K+S Group intends to sell the salt business in the Americas. The transaction is expected to be completed before the end of this year, however, the buyer of the Operating Unit Americas has not yet been announced.

At the same time, the K+S Group will continue to focus its efforts on the production of potash fertilizers and the reduction of the company’s debt (it should decrease by more than 2 billion euros by the end of 2021).

“The sale of our strong Americas salt business is a decisive step in setting the course for the future development of K+S. After intensive examination, it is the best option to achieve the urgently required reduction of the company’s debt,” says Dr. Burkhard Lohr, Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of K+S Group.

Europe is falling behind in this field. The concerns 30 years ago was reasonable. Now not so much. We need crops that can survive in a more extreme future climate. Handle droughts and hot weather better. Crops that are less tasty to pests like hogs and deere.
