Russian fertilizer producers requested to freeze gas prices

Domestic producers of mineral fertilizers asked the Russian Government to freeze local prices for natural gas until the end of this year.

“We addressed the government with this issue. I think we will receive an answer soon and discuss it. I believe the gas prices for the Russian companies should not exceed the prices for consumers abroad,” said PhosAgro CEO and Head of the Russian Fertilizers Producers Association (RFPA) Andrey Guryev. “Reduction of consumer’s demand will lead to pressure on prices. Primarily, on those products that our country exports. We understand it. Moreover, gas prices do not help either. They are decreasing all over the world, which makes our foreign rivals more competitive.”

RFPA asks the Russian Government to temporarily freeze domestic commercial prices for natural gas and also control that the commercial prices for Russian consumers will not exceed prices for foreign competitors.
