Voskresensk Mineral Fertilizers will replace the dryer tower

Voskresensk Mineral Fertilizers (part of Uralchem) has begun the implementation of the third stage of a large-scale investment project to modernize a sulfuric acid production with the replacement of three shop towers at the SK-48 unit. Total investments in the project exceed 730 million rubles (approximately $9.6 million), of which about 295 million rubles (approx. $3.9 million) will be invested in 2021.

Voskresensk Mineral Fertilizers began the modernization of the contact sulfuric acid workshop in 2017 when the intermediate absorption tower was replaced. In 2019, the company, using the same method of destroying the old one and installing a new one instead, replaced the final absorption tower A2.

“The drying tower is at the head of the sulfuric acid production process,” said Dmitry Zotov, Head of the contact sulfuric acid workshop. “Humid air, passing through this tower, becomes dry, and the entire technological process goes smoothly and in accordance with the regulations. The replacement of the tower will be conducted in the fall during the repair campaign. We will be able to achieve all the set goals on time only in partnership with real professionals. Fortunately, together with them, we have already successfully completed the replacement of two absorption towers, due to which we have been able to stabilize the production capacity at a design level, significantly reduce equipment maintenance costs and improve the safety performance of production processes. Now our team has to implement the final stage of this large-scale investment project, the completion of which will provide new opportunities for both the workshop and the enterprise as a whole.”
