Lindsay Corporation has strengthened its position in precision agriculture through the acquisition of a 49.9% minority stake in Austria-based Pessl Instruments. By merging Lindsay’s expertise in irrigation technology with Pessl’s advanced data-driven solutions, the partnership aims to address the growing global demand for food, fuel, and fiber while promoting resource efficiency and sustainability.
Since the collaboration began in May 2023, the integration of Lindsay’s FieldNET remote irrigation platforms with Pessl’s METOS systems has delivered significant benefits to producers. By connecting weather stations, soil moisture probes, and pest monitoring tools with real-time data through Pessl’s FieldClimate software, farmers get practical guidance to optimize water, fertilizer, and pesticide usage. With over one million sensors and 100,000 in-field data devices deployed globally, this partnership provides producers with the tools to enhance crop health and maximize yields.
The collaboration is also expected to drive the development of AI-based tools that will further streamline operations and improve decision-making for producers worldwide.
Pessl Instruments, known for its extensive global reach and legacy of innovation, brings decades of expertise in wireless monitoring solutions under its METOS brand. With 50,000 active users, the company has become a trusted partner for farmers seeking reliable and efficient tools to manage climate variability and resource constraints.
