Phytech launches AI-powered irrigation advisor for farm-level water optimization

      Share

Phytech, an Israel-based agtech firm, has introduced an AI-driven irrigation advisory tool designed to help farmers optimize water use by generating real-time, farm-specific recommendations. The new platform, Phytech AI Advisor, is built on in-field data collected from the company’s proprietary network of sensors monitoring trees, fruit, soil, and climate conditions.

According to Phytech, the tool can adapt to each farm’s individual conditions by learning from past irrigation patterns and current environmental factors. This approach enables the system to generate actionable insights tailored to daily operations on the ground.

The launch comes amid growing concerns over water scarcity, with agriculture currently accounting for more than 70% of global freshwater use. The company said the tool aims to bridge the gap between monitoring and execution in irrigation management, a critical area for improving both economic and environmental outcomes in farming.

“This technology equips growers with real-time, plant-driven intelligence, enabling them to make quicker, more accurate decisions,” said Oren Kind, Phytech’s CEO. He described the system as offering “a super-agronomic intelligence” that continuously adjusts to changing field conditions.

The AI Advisor delivers a natural language summary of key data points, helping irrigation managers to streamline decision-making. Phytech claims the tool can improve water and fertilizer efficiency, reduce energy consumption, and increase yields.

While the system is currently being rolled out across existing Phytech user farms, the company anticipates broader adoption as growers seek scalable solutions to manage increasingly complex farm environments.

“This is just the beginning,” Kind added. “We see a future where every farm operates with plant-driven intelligence to optimize productivity and resource use.”

Europe is falling behind in this field. The concerns 30 years ago was reasonable. Now not so much. We need crops that can survive in a more extreme future climate. Handle droughts and hot weather better. Crops that are less tasty to pests like hogs and deere.
