GDM completes acquisition of AgReliant genetics in North America

GDM, a global plant genetics company, has finalized its purchase of AgReliant Genetics, a leading US and Canadian corn and soybean seed provider, marking a significant expansion of its North American footprint.
The deal, completed September 2, gives GDM full ownership of AgReliant and its assets, including the AgriGold, LG Seeds and PRIDE Seeds brands, as well as one of the largest temperate corn genetic pools and the fourth-largest corn research program in North America. GDM already operates well-known soybean licensing businesses and brands such as DONMARIO, Mustang, Revere and Virtue.
The acquisition positions GDM as the global leader in soybean genetics and the world’s fourth-largest corn genetics provider. The company said the move would broaden product choice and strengthen seed performance for farmers across the region.
“This is a transformative moment in our journey in North America,” said Ignacio Bartolomé, GDM’s chief executive. “By welcoming AgReliant into the GDM family, we are creating an agricultural powerhouse poised to offer farmers an unmatched portfolio of high-performance seed solutions in soybeans and corn.”
Brian Barker, formerly chief executive of AgReliant, has been appointed president of GDM North America. He said the combination would allow the company to deliver “a more powerful, innovative and integrated portfolio of seed solutions” to growers.
