Ecorobotix expands AI-driven spraying technology after $150 million funding

Swiss agricultural technology company Ecorobotix is expanding its AI-powered precision spraying systems following two funding rounds totaling $150 million, as investors bet on data-led solutions to reduce chemical use in farming.

The company’s Plant-by-Plant technology applies crop protection products with centimeter-level accuracy, cutting pesticide use by up to 95 percent while maintaining effectiveness. The approach aims to lower costs for farmers and help them comply with tightening environmental regulations.

The latest Series D round, which brought in $105 million, was led by Highland Europe with participation from the European Circular Bioeconomy Fund (ECBF) and McWin Capital Partners. The Series C round in 2024 raised $45 million from investors including BASF Venture Capital, Yara Growth Ventures, Swisscom Ventures, and Cibus Capital.

“These investments allow us to accelerate product development and expand into new crop types,” said Dominique Mégret, Ecorobotix’s chief executive.

Ecorobotix’s flagship sprayer, ARA, operates across more than 25 crop-specific algorithms and is sold in over 20 countries. The company, certified as a B Corporation, focuses on technologies that help reduce inputs while maintaining yields.

Highland Europe, based in London, has raised more than €2.75 billion (about $3 billion) since its founding in 2012. The ECBF, managing €300 million (around $325 million), targets investments supporting a circular bioeconomy, while McWin Capital Partners focuses on food-sector ventures.

Ecorobotix plans to introduce its next generation of precision spraying technology later this year.
