Uralchem introduces nutrition systems for tropical crops in Vietnam

      Never miss important fertilizer news

Uralchem Group has presented its crop nutrition solutions to fertilizer retailers and distributors in Vietnam’s Mekong Delta, a region that anchors the country’s rice and fruit production and is increasingly important to global tropical fruit trade.

The presentation, held in Can Tho province, brought together about 100 owners of retail chains and fertilizer distribution outlets from Vietnam’s largest agricultural region, according to the company.

      What happened?

      • Uralchem showcased tailored nutrition systems designed for rice and tropical crops in the Mekong Delta.
      • The company highlighted two products: Uralchem NPK 16-16-16 and granular muriate of potash (Uralchem gMOP).
      • The event targeted retailers and distributors serving Vietnam’s most productive farming areas.

      Company saying

Olga Poltavskaya, marketing director at Uralchem Group, said:

“Vietnam is a highly competitive market with dozens of local and international fertilizer producers. It is therefore particularly important that our products are well received by farmers and retail partners from the very start. We see strong prospects in this region and plan to expand our product range, introduce advanced nutrition systems, and develop a premium portfolio for export-oriented crops such as durian, mango, and citrus.”

Konstantin Sharipov, distribution development director at Uralchem Group, said:

“Vietnam is one of the most dynamic agricultural markets in the world. Farmers in the Mekong Delta grow crops that are supplied to dozens of countries. Our fertilizers will help increase both yields and product quality, marking a first step toward a long-term partnership with Vietnamese farmers.”

      Why is this important?

      • The Mekong Delta accounts for about 50% of Vietnam’s rice output and 70% of its fruit production.
      • Vietnam has emerged as a global hub for durian, with exports reaching about $3.3 billion in 2024, nearly eight times higher than two years earlier.
      • Vietnam’s complex NPK fertilizer market reached roughly 3.8 million tonnes in 2025, making it the second largest in Southeast Asia.
      • Russia supplies about 40% of Vietnam’s imported NPK fertilizers, positioning Uralchem to expand sales and strengthen its brand in a growing market.

It is alarming to see these developments in California. As a vineyard grower, I have faced significant challenges this year, with fertilizer costs rising sharply while market conditions have made it difficult to sell the harvest.
