Grupa Azoty secures potash supply from Nutrien for its Polish NPK fertilizer production

Poland’s Grupa Azoty has signed a multi-year potash supply agreement with Canada’s Nutrien, securing deliveries of the key fertilizer ingredient through the end of 2027 as the company seeks to strengthen raw-material security and stabilize production.

The contract, signed at the end of December 2025, covers potash used in the production of NPK compound fertilizers at Grupa Azoty’s Police and Fosfory plants. The company stated that the deal would ensure consistent fertilizer quality and a stable supply to the market.

Grupa Azoty described the agreement as part of a broader strategy to improve supply security across its capital group by coordinating procurement and logistics. The approach aims to reduce costs, enhance operational predictability, and foster long-term relationships with strategic suppliers.

“For Grupa Azoty Police, the key aspect of this agreement is that it directly strengthens our ability to offer fertilizers of consistent, high quality,” Andrzej Dawidowski, vice president of Grupa Azoty and president of Grupa Azoty Police, said in a statement. Stable potash supplies, he added, allow customers to plan agricultural production with greater certainty.

Under the contract, potash will be delivered by large vessels directly to the port of Police, avoiding transshipment through the Amsterdam-Rotterdam-Antwerp hub. Grupa Azoty stated that the change would reduce transport times, minimize operational risks, and lower logistics costs, while enabling more efficient use of its port infrastructure.

The agreement also gives Grupa Azoty greater flexibility in planning purchase volumes and delivery schedules. The company said this would help stabilize costs and mitigate market risks, with a bonus mechanism in the contract expected to generate financial benefits as early as this year.
