KRIBHCO profit climbs 16% to $86M as urea plants run near full capacity

Krishak Bharati Cooperative (KRIBHCO), one of India’s largest fertilizer cooperatives, reported a pre-tax profit of INR 8.25 billion (USD 86 million) for fiscal 2025-26. That is nearly 16% higher than the previous year, while turnover rose about 5%. Members approved the accounts at the cooperative’s 46th annual general meeting in New Delhi on September 25 and declared a 20% dividend on the equity capital of member cooperative societies.
The KRIBHCO profit rise was driven by high plant utilization. The cooperative produced 2.13 million metric tons of urea and 1.24 million metric tons of ammonia, running at 97.26% and 99.36% of capacity. Total fertilizer sales reached 4.54 million metric tons, covering urea, DAP, MAP, MOP, complex grades, SSP, biofertilizers and biostimulants.
Its wholly owned subsidiary KRIBHCO Fertilizers (KFL) went further. It produced 1.10 million metric tons of urea and 668,000 metric tons of ammonia, at 127.48% and 133.16% of rated capacity, and declared a dividend of INR 144 million (USD 1.5 million). A second subsidiary, KRIBHCO Agri Business, posted turnover of INR 19.19 billion (USD 201 million). Of that, INR 14.37 billion (USD 150 million) came from the domestic business and INR 4.83 billion (USD 51 million) from exports.
KRIBHCO is also building green energy plants at Hazira in Gujarat and Nellore in Andhra Pradesh as it diversifies beyond fertilizer.
Strong domestic output matters as India manages subsidy costs. Imports still fill the urea gap, although landed urea import costs have fallen 57% from their May peak, easing pressure on New Delhi’s fertilizer budget.
