Grodno Azot to choose a general contractor before the end of the year

A general contractor for the construction of a new nitrogen complex at the Grodno Azot plant (Belarus) will be hired before the end of this year, said Vladimir Kravtsov, Chairman of the Grodno Regional Executive Committee.

“The process is on. There are several applications submitted by companies from Italy and China. The winner of the competition that will be able to initiate the construction already in 2020 is expected to be announced by the end of the year,” he said.

The project cost is about $1.2 billion. Putting the new nitrogen complex into operation will increase the production of nitrogen fertilizers by more than 1.5 times. Moreover, their prime cost will be significantly reduced.

“The new complex is basically a new factory. However, the existing production will function. The implementation of the investment projects is still in progress there,” said Vladimir Kravtsov.
