Ukraine faces a lack of innovative pesticides

According to the statement of the Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Roman Leshchenko, the five-year blocking of state tests of innovative plant protection products led to losses of about 5% of the Ukrainian gross domestic product (GDP).

As follows from the Minister’s statement, it negatively affects the economy and environment, since innovative drugs are safer for the health of the human and environment.

“The five-year ban has spurred the investments in research and development in the crop protection segment. In general, we can note a loss of about 5% of GDP. Every year we received less harvest, which could have been higher both in volume and quality with innovative fertilizers,” said Roman Leshchenko.
