Application of mineral fertilizers in the Rostov region exceeded the plan

Farmers of the Rostov region are completing the sowing of spring crops.

“The sowing campaign is entering its final straight. Farmers of the Rostov region have sown over 90% of the planned area,” said Viktor Goncharov, First Deputy Governor of the Rostov region. “The past rains had a positive effect on the cultivated crops. Now the weather has stabilized, which favorably affects the pace of spring fieldwork.”

In 2022, about 1.8 million hectares are planned to be sown with spring crops in the Rostov region. In general, the sown area of all crops should reach about 4.8 million hectares.

As of today, grain and leguminous crops have occupied over 605 thousand hectares, which exceeds 93% of the planned area. Industrial crops were sown on an area of 874 thousand hectares, or more than 90% of the planned volume. Vegetables are sown on 90% of the expected area.

Besides, farmers of the Rostov region have applied 347 thousand tons of mineral fertilizers, exceeding the planned level by 7%.
