Schelkovo Agrohim plans to produce active components for plant protection

Schelkovo Agrohim (Moscow region) intends to launch the production of active ingredients necessary for the manufacture of plant protection products, said its CEO Salis Karaktov.

According to his statement, imports of active ingredients in 2021 amounted to 71.8 thousand tons against 40 thousand tons in 2017, indicating an expansion in the domestic production of plant protection products in Russia. Therefore, the new production facilities will keep reducing Russian dependence on their imports.

As Salis Karaktov noted, last year, out of the total volume of plant protection products used by domestic farmers, 54% fell on pesticides produced in Russia and 12% and 13% were supplied from China and the European Union, respectively.
