Grupa Azoty and thyssenkrupp Uhde Join Forces to Build New Ammonium Nitrate Plant in Tarnów
Major Polish fertilizer producer Grupa Azoty S.A. has partnered with fertilizer industry technology provider thyssenkrupp Uhde, to develop a new concentrated ammonium nitrate solution plant in Tarnów, Poland. With this newly developed Neutralisation Plant the company aims to significantly enhance its production efficiency, lower energy consumption, and contribute to a greener future.
Under the terms of the contract, thyssenkrupp Uhde will assume responsibility for the preparation of licensing documentation and the supply of process equipment for the concentrated ammonium nitrate solution plant. The new facility is poised to replace an existing, less efficient plant, which will help to minimize the environmental footprint. Incorporation of modern solutions in the design of process equipment and instrumentation and control automation will significantly enhance the overall technical safety of the plant.
The plant’s location on the premises of the Fertilizer Business Unit of Grupa Azoty will allow to secure raw material for further production of nitrate fertilizers in Tarnów, including Saletrosan and Saletrzak. Its daily production capacity will be 1,500 tonnes of concentrated ammonium nitrate solution (100% equivalent) with a concentration of 94% or 86%.
