Clariant Catalysts, an independent Swiss manufacturer of energy-efficient catalyst technologies, and KBR, a a U.S. based world leader in ammonia technology, have announced an extension of their collaboration for another decade, focusing on both traditional and green ammonia applications. This partnership aims to optimize costs and maximize efficiency through the integration of Clariant’s catalysts and KBR’s ammonia technology.

For carbon-free green ammonia production, KBR’s K-GreeN technology will be combined with Clariant’s AmoMax 10 Plus catalyst to convert green hydrogen with nitrogen from an air separation unit. The catalyst’s enhanced activity supports maximum ammonia production and energy efficiency, while its stability ensures reliable performance despite the fluctuating supply of renewable sources. The partners’ complete green ammonia solution has already been selected for ten prestigious green ammonia projects worldwide.

The energy transition has redefined ammonia’s role from a crucial ingredient in fertilizers to a decarbonized hydrogen carrier that is easy to store and transport. The global ammonia market is projected to triple by 2050, driven by the increasing demand for low-carbon ammonia in shipping fuel and power generation.

The expanded collaboration between Clariant and KBR is set to accelerate the sustainable energy transition, reinforcing their commitment to providing innovative and sustainable solutions for the chemical industry.

Europe is falling behind in this field. The concerns 30 years ago was reasonable. Now not so much. We need crops that can survive in a more extreme future climate. Handle droughts and hot weather better. Crops that are less tasty to pests like hogs and deere.
