BASF and AM Green partner for new low-carbon chemical production in India
BASF and AM Green have entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to collaboratively assess and advance projects for producing low-carbon chemicals in India. The according agreement was signed during the Asia-Pacific Conference of German Business 2024 in New Delhi.
A new strategic partnership will involve conducting feasibility studies on various technologies that could enable the production of low-carbon chemicals using renewable energy sources.
Additionally, a non-binding letter of intent was signed under which BASF intends to purchase up to 100,000 tons annually of green ammonia from AM Green. This ammonia will be produced at AM Green’s facilities across India, harnessing energy from renewable sources such as pumped storage projects, and is expected to comply with the EU standards for Renewable Fuels of Non-Biological Origin (RFNBO) as per the Renewable Energy Directive (RED III). AM Green’s facilities are on their way to full certification for RFNBO compliance under the CertifHy scheme.
